Next Time You Visit Target And Best Buy, Ask To Talk With The Manager

Monday, August 2, 2010 at 4:32PM Why? Because since the US Supreme Court gave corporations free reign to spend as much money as they would like to influence elections, Target and Best Buy are wasting no time getting behind right-wing Republican candidates. Click here to read about their active support - to the tune of $250,000 - of Minnesota Gubernatorial Candidate Tom Emmer.
Kudos to the national Human Rights Campaign for calling out Target and Best Buy for their activism on behalf of Republicans with a full-page ad in the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Emmer is a strident opponent of gay marriage and HRC is mounting a strong campaign asking these two companies to donate an equivalent amount of money to candidates who support equality. If you want to help, sign the petition here.
If you are a Democrat, would you want the money you spend at Target and Best to help right-wing Republican candidates for office? I certainly wouldn't. Next time you stop in at one of their stores (if you do) ask to talk to the manager and let them know your thoughts!
