In Calais SCOTUS dealt the final blow to the Voting Rights Act which supported civil rights for more than half a century and produced a more representational democracy.
Its demise has spurred significant racially-motivated gerrymandering and redistricting. Simultaneously, the rage provoked by the decision has resulted in a groundswell of African-American turnout in special elections and primaries. Grassroots groups across the country are building on that interest to ensure all citizens can and do vote in November and beyond.
LaTosha Brown co-founded Black Voters Matter in 2016. BVM significantly increased Black voter registration and mobilization in southern elections, contributing to victories by Georgia US Senate candidates Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock in ‘21.
Lauren Groh-Wargo, Chief Executive Officer of Fair Fight and longtime colleague/advisor to Stacey Abrams, helped build one of the nation’s most influential organizations to protect voting, expand civic participation, and challenge voter suppression.
Force Multiplier, an independent, all-volunteer organization, can help you maximize the impact of your political investments of time and money by doing the research so you don’t have to.
