The new bridge looking toward the Newton Lower Falls neighborhood
Thanks to the leadership of Newton's Democratic State Representative Kay Khan and the hard work and partnership of other local and statewide elected officials, the Newton Lower Falls pedestrian and bicycle bridge connecting Newton and Wellesley will officially open for business next Tuesday, May 8.
Governor Deval Patrick, Newton Mayor Setti Warren, Senator Cindy Creem, Representative Kay Khan and many other elected and community officials will be on hand for a ribbon cutting and celebration of this great achievement for Newton.

I am pleased to invite you to join me on Tuesday, May 8th at 11:30 AM, with Governor Deval Patrick in Lower Falls on the Wellesley side of the Charles River for a very special Bridge Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. This event is scheduled to take place on the Trestle Bridge crossing the Charles River, connecting Newton and Wellesley.                 
 
We will be joined by Newton Mayor Setti Warren, Senator Cynthia Creem, Representative Alice Peisch, DCR Commissioner Edward Lambert, Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs Richard Sullivan, and representatives from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. Many public officials and neighbors from the City of Newton and the Town of Wellesley including the Newton Bike and Pedestrian Task Force will attend.
 
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for your interest, your dedication, your tremendous support and hard work in bringing this project to fruition for so many to enjoy.
